Cims was an international membership marketing organisation, subsequently acquired by Affinion International. By designing marketing strategies for their clients, which were based around the delivery of suites of benefits that are offered to their clients' customers as membership packages, they aimed to increase the retention of customers for their clients. Cims faced an increasing threat within their highly competitive marketplace, not only from competitors, but also from their own clients undertaking the service provision internally.
In order to stay one step ahead of the competition, Cims wanted to see how they could use the data available to them, relating to the usage of the membership benefits by the clients' customers, in order to develop a more focused service offering to improve their competitive advantage.
PJL Business Services undertook a comprehensive review of the data that was available within the organisations, relating to the marketing reports that Cims wanted to produce on a regular basis, and designed a technical solution for warehousing the data, allowing the immediate reports to be compiled and future requirements to be met as they became apparent. This flexible approach was deemed to be most desirable in the rapidly-chainging environment in which Cims was operating.
With an increasing for on data security, Cims recognised the importance of gaining ISO17799 accreditation for the security procedures in place within the organisation. Cims conducted an initial audit of their internal processes and identified a number of areas where they felt security could be improved in order to ensure their success when the IOS17799 accreditation process was conducted, but didn't have the resources and internal expertise to deliver the changes to their business to achieve this accreditation.
PJL Business Services were able to support Cims and reviewed the business processes which were of most concern, and recommend improvements to the business processes to meet the requirements of ISO17799. The recommendations were also scoped in terms of the resources required to implement them.
